In the early 2000’s, a big shift was just beginning on college campuses nation-wide. We were the first to see it.

Midwest College Marketing (MCM) Group is nationally known as a major manufacturer of college-licensed merchandise. And our intuitive and empirical knowledge of the college market propels MCM’s product lines into “promotional staple” status.

Several years ago, what we began to see among our end-user demographics (college students) reflected a shift in attitudes about personal identity, beauty and maturity. No, it wasn’t a radical social or political movement, or anything else that would have been apparent to a casual observer: college women were starting to trade in their “high-school-leftover” back sacks for trendy, fashion-basic totes.

We acted upon these observations and created Carolina Sewn Products, borrowing MCM Group’s experience, connections and clout in the collegiate-licensed product market to introduce more fashion-conscious, higher-end products crafted from quality leather and fabrics: totebags, but also wallets, purses, pad holders, I.D. holders (a perennial bestseller), hair accessories and lots more…all imprinted with colleges’ trademarks or custom Carolina Sewn Products graphic designs.

Carolina Sewn researches, designs, globally sources and procures tote bags, back sacks, small leather goods and more. These products are then imprinted at our Fletcher, North Carolina facility using screenprinting in the case of fabric goods, and debossing in the case of leather.

We take promotional products to the next level: fashion-basic, semi-luxury: several steps above the more value-oriented offerings from other companies in the collegiate-licensed market. With constant research (and passion) towards what’s going on in the fashion retail world for the 18 to 24-year-old collegiate market segment, you can be sure you’re stocking on-trend products that your customers will love, that build your school’s brand, and that fashionably celebrate “the tribe.”
